The goal of this course is to extend your knowledge of sailing beyond those learned in Level 1 - Start Sailing.
Level 2 - Basic Skills builds on the experience & knowledge gained in Level 1 - Start Sailing.
This course consolidates all skills learnt at Level 1 and provides a controlled environment (light winds, enclosed waters) in which each participant can practice his/her sailing techniques and become a competent sailor. At the completion on this course the sailor is able to complete a triangular course without outside assistance, launch and recover a boat safely without extra guidance, demonstrate the five essentials of boat handling on the water, get out of irons and recover from a capsize unaided. Theory will cover the use basic meteorology to forecast sailing conditions and an understanding of tides.

What happens?
Students will be given an opportunity to cover all aspects of the sailing syllabus and have their log books signed off every week in order to reach the next certificated level.
What to expect?
We have a fleet of six 14ft, Vagabond dinghies and operate a rescue boat at the same time. If conditions are considered to be unsuitable for safety a session will be called off before or during that session.
What do I bring?
Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bathing suit, a warm jumper, change of clothes (minimal wardrobe needed), spray jacket. Be sure to pack this in a flexible soft bag.
What about meals?
Bring your own meals and drinks.

Our office is located at The Wharf Mooloolaba on Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba. There's ample parking. Click HERE to see a map. Dinghy courses will operate from the Maroochy Sailing Club on Chambers Island in the Maroochy River. The location can be accessed from Bradman Avenue, Maroochydore.
